Volunteering

Volunteer today... We pay ‘in kind' with friendship, fun and a great sense of community!

The volunteers of the BREC Club are an integral part of the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre. Almost one third of our BREC Club members volunteer to carry out Front of House and bar duties. In fact, for the total Front of House to be run and managed by volunteers in such a professional manner is unique in Australia!

As part of the BREC crew, you could be behind the scenes at live performances, events or films as an usher on the door, making popcorn, serving behind the bar or perhaps selling merchandise and programmes to the public.

There's a range of volunteer roles available and plenty of training and support is provided.

Please contact BREC Ticketing on 1300 661 272 to find out more.

Club History

Entertainment for the community, by the community!

In the late 1980's a group of citizens and business leaders in Bunbury saw the need for a theatre to add to the cultural life of
the South West.  A fund raising committee raised more than $2 million for the construction of the Bunbury Regional
Entertainment Centre, with the balance of funding coming from the City and State Governments.  Major individual and corporate donors are recognised in the BREC foyer.  BREC was officially opened in 1990.

The successful operation of the Centre relies on the cooperative and coordinated efforts of:
   - BREC's Board of Management
   - Centre Manager and Staff
   - BREC Club

The volunteer Board of Management operates the Centre on behalf of the owners, the City of Bunbury.  The Board provides strategic direction for the Centre and ensures financial viability.  The Centre Manager and staff are responsible for day-to-day operations, securing shows and events, as well as long term planning.

The BREC Club is a ‘Friends of the Theatre' group, supporting the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre and the performing arts in the South West.  The BREC Club is managed by a volunteer Executive Committee and has almost 1000 members

Many members of the BREC Club generously volunteer their time to support the operation of the Centre in Front of House and Hospitality roles, presenting a friendly and professional image to the public visiting BREC.  No other theatre in Australia is
able to rely on such a committed volunteer crew to successfully fulfil these responsibilities!

The BREC Club also provides grants to assist local community productions, awards trophies at the South West Drama Festival and at the WA Performing Arts Eisteddfod and financially supports the Centre through the purchase of specialised equipment, such as the outdoor electronic sign on the front of the building.

Join the BREC Club today to show your commitment to live entertainment in the South West (and of course for some great discounts!).
