Coronavirus Update

The safety and wellbeing of BREC’s visitors, clients, employees and volunteers is of paramount importance and remains our top priority.

It is with sadness we announce that for the first time in 29 years BREC will close its doors to the public from noon today until further notice. While we one hundred percent support measures to slow the spread of COVID-19 we acknowledge that closing BREC impacts not only our staff, volunteers and the many artists and community members who perform here, but also the surrounding businesses and our very valued audiences.

Acting in accordance with the new Australian Government Stage 1 restrictions on social gatherings we will review the situation regularly in accordance with State and Federal Government guidance, and we look forward to welcoming you back once we have the all clear. We anticipate the closure may last six months.

BREC was built by the community for the benefit of all people living in the South West. Our role remains, as it has always been, to provide a platform for artists to inspire and challenge, to bring joy and wonder, and to offer a lens to help us understand the new frontiers humanity faces. Now more than ever we need the arts. While our doors may be closed our staff will still be working to ensure that BREC survives this crisis and that we find new ways to support artists and bring the arts to you wherever you are.

We ask that all ticket holders continue to remain patient as we work through the postponement and cancellation of performances. Our box office team will be in touch by email and phone to discuss your refund options. If you are able to do so, we invite you to take a credit voucher for a future show – why not give yourself something to look forward to?  Or you may choose to convert your ticket into a tax deductible donation to BREC to help us come back stronger than ever.

FOR TICKET HOLDERS

In light of the recently announced ban on non-essential gatherings of 100 people or more in indoor areas, the BREC team are working through plans to postpone  or cancel shows and any events that are in breach of the new legislation.

In the meantime, we urge ticket holders to be patient while the BREC ticketing team work through immediately effected events. Further information will be updated on our website, social media and via email.

Our Box Office team will contact anyone affected by these changes.

BREC’s usual Terms of Sale apply. Patrons should be aware ticket refunds are given in accordance with the Ticketing Code of Practice and exchanges incur a fee per ticket.

GENERAL INFORMATION

In response to the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) BREC has put in place all steps and precautions throughout the venue as recommended by the Australian Government Department for Health, to help ensure the safety of our visitors and team members.

This includes:

  • Limiting event attendees, staff and crew to 100
  • Placing guidance on hand washing in all bathrooms
  • Digital and printed hygiene signage in all foyers and backstage areas
  • Leave internal doors open where possible in public areas to minimise hand to surface contact
  • Additional and more frequent cleaning and sterilisation protocols of the building
  • Continued rigorous adherence to ISO and HACCP food safety management standards within all culinary services
  • Reinforced health and hygiene practices amongst team members
