Sean Baker’s Palme d’Or winning ANORA is an audacious, comedic variation on a modern-day Cinderella story. Ani, a 23-year-old stripper and sometimes sex worker from Brooklyn, finds her life takes an unexpected turn when she meets and impulsively marries Vanya, the 21-year-old impetuous son of a Russian billionaire, in a whirlwind romance.
When Vanya’s parents catch wind of the union, their henchmen attempt to annul the marriage by any means necessary, setting off a wild chase through the streets of New York.

Among other highlights is the stunning performance by Mikey Madison as Ani; tipped to win her a Best Actress nomination at the 2025 Oscars. In almost every scene, Madison pays Ani with a burning intensity underscored by searing vulnerability, ending with a final devastating scene that seals her performance as one of the best this season.
