Summer holiday theatre fun and creative workshops for kids!

Join us for this heart-warming theatre show Benjamin & Me, the latest work from award-winning writer and performer Mark Storen and is the debut production for his new company Whiskey and Boots.

Follow the extraordinary journey of this young boy, his dog, their wild imagination and a ukulele. The show features a smattering of songs, crazy contraptions and illustrations by visual artist Jacinta Larcombe.

Benjamin is Will’s best mate in the whole wide world. Benjamin is also a dog. One morning, Will wakes up with an idea. He has decided to build the first ever boy-dog operated flying machine. And so, this coming-of-age adventure takes to the skies…

“I want to give people an intimate storytelling experience like we’ve gathered the family into the lounge-room for a good yarn,” Mark Storen.

Pre-show Workshop

Venue BREC Bunbury
Duration 90 minutes

Hosted by Mark Storen, this 90 minute workshop is all about having fun. Ideal for children aged 7-12 years, the workshop encourages children to work collaboratively exploring themes of friendship and adventure through drama-based activities. Using excerpts from the play Benjamin and Me, participants will explore the use of storytelling and music for theatre performance and during the final 20 minutes of the workshop participants will have the opportunity to take part in an informal performance for family and friends.

The workshop will conclude at 10.30am, leaving plenty of time to enjoy fun craft activities in the Skybar or grab refreshments from BREC’s cafe before the show begins at 11.30am. Workshop spaces are limited, so book early to secure your space!

What to bring? Its recommended parents leave children at the workshop, with a water bottle and snacks to enjoy during their break. Parents will be invited to join the last 20 minutes of the workshop for an informal performance.

Looking for tickets for the show only?If you’d prefer to attend the show only and not the workshop, please call our box office team on 1300 661 272 to purchase the show only ticket option.

“Storen is a consummate theatrical storyteller and once you’ve heard him spin a yarn with an instrument in tow, you don’t easily forget it”
