Family Proms 2023 - Melodic Moves
Experience the might and magic as Philharmonic South West Orchestra fill BREC’s Stage One with an eclectic mix of dance music from around the world and across the ages. More than 55 classical musicians, conducted and hosted by Maestro David Pye, will entertain, inspire and set us dancing. Selected pieces will be accompanied by dancers live on stage.
Melodic Moves has it all. Music and dance from traditional Ballet to waltz, traditional folk dances from around the globe including Spain, Romania, olde Britain, Celtic and American fiddle dances, and even a sitting dance. What’s a sitting dance? Intrigued? Here is what one sitting dancer said: “I was touched and overwhelmed by the audience reaction. Many people shed tears and told me how emotional the piece made them”. – Cherylyn
David Pye, Musical Director and Principal Conductor for PSWO, is renowned for making orchestral music accessible. An accomplished MC and host, David is engaging and witty and he shares the background on each piece and why it was chosen, bringing the audience into the music. No matter if you are new to orchestral music or an aficionado, you’ll be right at home.
