Robot Dreams (PG)

A dog and a robot bond in ’80s New York in this giant-hearted story about friendship, love and loss by award-winning Spanish director Pablo Berge.

DOG is a lonely dog who lives in Manhattan. One day he decides to order a kit on line and build himself a robot companion.  It is love at first sight! Inseparable, the friends enjoy the New York summer together – until one night they get separated. Will they ever meet again?

The beauty of this jewel of a film is its reminder of the good fortune of having a caring pal, even if it’s only for a brief time.

Based on Sara Varon’s popular children’s graphic novel, and lauded for its rich and detailed hand drawn animation and rocking 80’s soundtrack, this wordless fable explores what happens when the closest of bonds are weathered away by time and circumstance.

Universally described by reviewers as charming and heartfelt, this is an enthralling movie that can be enjoyed by all ages.

“Poetic, lyrical, and nostalgic in both its setting and animation storytelling, Pablo Berger’s Robot Dreams is an incredible cinematic experience with a rich examination of friendship, told maturely and sincerely. It’s one of the year’s most human movies, and there’s not even a single human in the film. “
★★★★ Rendy Jones

One of the loveliest movies that you will see this year, animated or otherwise.’
