BREC last night held its Annual General Meeting in the Sky Bar. An intimate group of dedicated stakeholders joined BREC’s staff and Board Members to hear presentations from Chairman of the Board, Simon Jacob and Executive Director, Fiona de Garis.

Ms de Garis thanked the Board of Management for their efforts over the past 12 months and welcomed new Board Members Amanda Yip, Garth Cahill and Susie Heyworth.

Ms de Garis emphasised the importance of community and how this has been instrumental to BREC’s existence. “So many people across the region have, and still do power our existence, give purpose and are part of BREC’s unique story.”

The evening’s presentation also included the launch of BREC’s Strategic Plan and the new five year funding and management agreement with the City of Bunbury.

Mr Jacob said, “The new agreement reflects the positive relationship between the City of Bunbury and BREC, and our shared vision of providing an outstanding facility for the benefit of the City and wider community.”

Mr Jacob acknowledged the past contributions of the BREC Club and its committee thanking them for their outstanding service over many years. A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Life Member of BREC Awards to Jill Lynn and Ross Ranson in recognition of their exceptional service provided to BREC.

Finally, Mr Jacob thanked the BREC staff for their outstanding effort for another year. “It is their ‘can do’ attitude which makes the difference, and one of the hallmarks of the service offered at BREC.” Said Mr Jacob.
