In celebration of NAIDOC Week, BREC is set to host the short play Donkalonk.

Written by respected Noongar Elder, professional actor and director Doctor Lynette Narkle and performed by Follow the Dream students.

With an illustrious stage career spanning 40 years, Aunty Lynette’s goal is to empower and enhance emerging Australian performers in contemporary theatre, film and television to tell their stories.

Follow the Dream is inspired by Graham (Polly) Farmer’s vision for all young Aboriginal people to have every opportunity to succeed in life, develop their talents and take their rightful place in Australian society.  Follow the Dream provides enriched educational and experiential opportunities for male and female Aboriginal students.

Donkalonk was first performed by the late Aunty Judith Wilkes and the late Aunty Dorothy Collard of Yirra Yaakin Theatre Company in 1996, and directed by Aunty Lynette.

Donkalonk tells the story of a group of First Nations children who lose track of time.

We welcome members of the community to join us for this special NAIDOC Week moment as local First Nations kids perform a short theatre piece, Donkalonk, For Our Elders.
