Fidil Ghorm
The Blue Fiddle

A lyrical family film that combines a magical musical score, a heartfelt intergenerational friendship and Irish folklore all whilst dealing with the universal challenges of grief and loss.

When Molly’s father tragically falls into a coma, she becomes convinced the answer to him recovering lies in an old fiddle player who has ‘magic in his hands.’ Molly believes if the old man can teach her how to play like her dad, and if she can win the All-Ireland Music Championship, it will wake him from his coma.

But first, she needs to convince the old fiddle player to teach her. Then she needs to get to the competition. And then, she needs to win it. Will Molly be able to achieve all of this? Maybe. Maybe not. But magic comes in many forms…

A beautiful, contemporary Irish-language movie, FIDIL GHORM is one for all of the family; bringing together traditional Irish music, Irish culture and the innocence and resilience of 10-year-old Molly, who’s on a heartfelt mission.

“A lovely lyrical story told in the poetic Irish language. Far fetched? Maybe some of it but let yourself go with the flow and you’ll emerge feeling enriched, more alive and refreshed.”
