Shore Lines Writing for Performance
Join us for this year’s Shore Lines performance event, where writers will perform their original works and are in the running to win cash prizes.
Poetry, monologues, plays and songs – come along and support emerging artists and hear original works.
The writers submit their works which are then judged based on merit and suitability for performance.
The competition has consistently attracted over 100 submissions from writers around the South West region and metropolitan Perth.
Shore Lines has been on the Bunbury arts calendar since 2004 and provides an opportunity for writers of all ages to show their creative pieces to a wide audience.
The entries have been judged and cash prizes will be awarded in Open, Youth Secondary and Youth Primary categories. Further works have been selected for performance alongside the prizewinners at this event.
The writers are supported through the rehearsal process and most perform their own work; others in partnership with actors.
Shore Lines has been fortunate to have the South West Teachers’ Association as its major sponsor with support from Stark Raven Theatre Company and Hello Duck (which hosts the open mic event in May). This year the Indie Book Fair has donated the first prize in the Open category.
For the first few years, Shore Lines performances were held in cafes, shops, pubs, etc and now through the generosity of BREC, Shore Lines performance event will be held in The Cube Theatre.
