Fate and power
French conductor Chloé van Soeterstède makes her WASO debut with a program of luscious melodies, dramatic virtuosity, and orchestral power.
One of WASO’s favourite guest artists, Simone Lamsma, returns to perform Glazunov’s radiant Violin Concerto. We premiere a new work by Australian composer Elizabeth Younan before Tchaikovsky’s emotionally charged Fourth Symphony brings the concert to a thrilling close.
Elizabeth Younan’s New Work commissioned for WASO by Geoff Stearn.
Chloé Van Soeterstède
Conductor
Chloé Van Soeterstède is attracting the attention of orchestras across the globe for her intuitive, sensitive, expressive music-making and her commanding and positive presence on the podium. She is praised repeatedly for her eye for detail, her energy and enthusiasm, efficiency in rehearsal and musical intelligence. She is forging excellent relationships with orchestras world-wide and 26/27 marks her third season as Principal Guest Conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.
Simone Lamsma
Violin
Hailed for her “brilliant… polished, expressive and intense” (Cleveland Plain Dealer) and “absolutely stunning” (Chicago Tribune) playing, Dutch violinist Simone Lamsma is respected by critics, peers and audiences as one of classical music’s most striking and captivating musical personalities.
With an extensive repertoire, Simone has been the guest of many of the world’s leading orchestras such as New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, London Symphony, London Philharmonic…
