Bell Shakespeare Cancels ‘The Comedy of Errors’ Tour

Sadly the 2020 Bell Shakespeare performance of ‘The Comedy of Errors’ scheduled for Tuesday 11 August has been cancelled. A brief statement from Bell Shakespeare’s Chief Operating Officer

“Like all companies in the live performance sector, Bell Shakespeare has been significantly impacted by the essential restrictions enforced in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Comedy of Errors was to be a major national tour scheduled to open in regional NSW in late June, then touring to 28 venues around Australia. Unfortunately we had no choice but to cancel the tour in its entirety.

Bell Shakespeare’s annual national tour is at the heart of what we do – sharing Shakespeare with Australians everywhere. It is a highlight of our year, and the decision to cancel has not been made lightly. But as ever, the health and wellbeing of our artists and communities remains the primary concern for us all.

Bell Shakespeare thanks you for your support and friendship during this difficult time.”

The John Bell Scholarship auditions scheduled for later this year are going ahead using digital interactive technology. Bell Shakespeare have also recently launched the inaugural Bell Shakespeare Shorts Festival; a film festival for primary and secondary students to showcase their filmmaking talents.

We look forward to welcoming Bell Shakespeare back in 2021 and thank all our patrons for their ongoing support.
