Kickstart My Arts Program Launch

KickStart My Arts is a 12 month multi-disciplinary arts engagement program for South West based children aged 10-12 coordinated by BREC In House Artist, Nathan Gardiner.

KickStart My Arts participants will engage in 8 x two day weekend workshops throughout the year. Workshops will be hosted at BREC and other Bunbury based arts venues and will be presented by the 2021 Perth Festival Lab alumni along with professional artists from the South West.

“Attending the 2021 Perth Festival Lab inspired the creation of Kick Start My Arts. From concept to grant proposal to successful funding I’ve been so supported by BREC throughout this process. Finally after all the planning it’s time to roll out Kick Start My Arts and I’m excited and ready – and more excited.”
– Nathan Gardiner

KickStart My Arts Participants will have the opportunity to attend performances and workshops at BREC throughout the duration of the program.

To conclude the KickStart My Arts program, participants will present an individual program outcome in their chosen discipline to be carried out in their relevant shire, school or community. Participants will be provided with a budget and support from BREC & Nathan Gardiner.

Participation in KickStart My Arts is free for ten participants who will be sourced from local children’s service providers including Milligan House Bunbury, Cahoots South West, South West Multicultural Society and BREC.

“I expect Kickstart My Arts to be a life changing experience for the ten young people from Bunbury-Geographe selected to explore their own creativity, capacity and potential career pathways in the arts through this opportunity. BREC’s Our fabulous In House Artist Nathan Gardiner has put together an exceptional team of artists from the Perth Festival Lab and the South West to run this program, and together I have no doubt they will kick open some creative doors over the next 12 months. Every KickStart participant will finish by creating a project of their own in and for the community where they live and I can’t wait to see the ways they choose to light up the South West with their creativity.”
– Fiona de Garis, BREC Executive Director
