Let the Dance Begin [MA 15+]

An offbeat black comedy set to the tune and tempo of the tango.

Thirty years ago, Carlos (Darío Grandinetti) and Margarita (Mercedes Morán) were the most famous tango couple in the world. Today, little remains of that passion in their lives. Carlos now lives in Madrid, enjoying a second chance at life, and Margarita lives in Buenos Aires immersed in solitude.

A sudden event forces the couple to reunite and commence a journey along the roads of Argentina to the foot of the Andes, together with their longtime friend Pichuquito (Jorge Marrale).

As the unexpected road trip is set in motion, resentments surface and old flames are rekindled. Passing through stunning landscapes, but not abandoning their humour and passion for dance, they are forced to face their memories, their fears, and above all, their true desires.

Winner of the Audience Award at the 2023 Málaga Film Festival, writer/director Marina Seresesky’s Let the Dance Begin is an offbeat, black comedy of a road trip, filled with tango, music and adventure.

★★★★ “Grandinetti, Morán and Marrale, an unforgettable trio of performers”
Cinemanía

Let the Dance Begin is clearly a love letter from writer-director Marina Sereseski to tango, to old stars and, in a way, to Argentina.
At the Movies

“A genuine and profound portrait of the human condition.”
