Men Against Domestic Violence Community Concert and Fundraiser
Warning: some content may be distressing for people that have been affected by domestic violence
Join us here at BREC for an inspirational evening of solidarity and song as Bunbury Men of Song and their Pop-Up Community Choir unite to raise awareness and funds for agencies working against domestic violence.
Men from diverse backgrounds within the community have joined Bunbury Men of Song as part of a ‘Pop Up’ choir rehearsing for 10-weeks before performing for us all in a bid to raise awareness and funds for services dealing directly with domestic violence in our community.
The choir will also be accompanied by Elyse Payne, Vocal Fusion Choir, South West Opera Company, Shore Lines, Bunbury Men of Song and Livid Lilith, who will debut a poignant song inspired by the struggle against domestic violence, along with other artists who will take the stage and lend their voices to this critical cause.
All proceeds from the concert will be donated to local agencies supporting those affected by domestic violence and so we invite the community of Bun-Geo to rally together as we unite through song, education and conversation against domestic violence and its impact.
JOIN THE CHOIR!
Bunbury Men of Song are seeking 40 men from diverse backgrounds within the general community to stand up and sing out against domestic violence as part of a ‘Pop-Up Choir’.
Participants will rehearse over 10-weeks as a group on FRIDAYS from 6-8pm here at BREC (from 6 to 20 September; then 11 October to 29 November) before performing a concert to raise funds for agencies working against domestic violence in our Stage One Theatre on FRIDAY 06 December.
**Please note: the rehearsal on FRIDAY 08 November will be held at UNITING CHURCH in Mangles Street not at BREC**
Each rehearsal session will commence with a presentation from a professional working within the field to share information and education with the choir members on how to identify, prevent and take action against domestic violence, followed by a 15-minute discussion over light refreshments.
Participants are expected to attend a minimum of six final rehearsals in order to perform in the final concert on FRIDAY 06 December.
Be the change, join the choir or come together as we converge and converse through music to work against domestic violence in our community.
