Matthias is a master of performance. Do you need a ‘cultured boyfriend’ to impress your friends? A perfect son to influence your business partners? Or maybe just a sparring partner to rehearse an argument?
Whatever role is required, Matthias can play it. But while he excels at becoming exactly who others need him to be, his carefully constructed life begins to unravel. As constant roleplaying strains his relationships, Matthias finds himself increasingly disconnected from his own identity.
Anchored by Albrecht Schuch’s award winning performance, Peacock is a singular tragicomedy which captures with offbeat humour the essence of human relationships.
Winner | Stockholm International Film Festival – Best First Feature Award
Winner | Austrian Film Awards – Best Leading Actor (Albrecht Schuch)
“Wenger’s script is a sly, finely balanced thing, pointedly and often hilariously poking fun at corporate and capitalistic ideals of self-improvement and social coordination, without ridiculing the individuals who feel beholden to those standards.”
– Variety
“Wenger’s smoothly structured debut is peppered with dry comic moments designed to push Matthias towards breakdown or reinvention”
– Screen Daily
