Siblings
Irene is trying to build a life for herself in Rome when she is forced to return to Rimini, her hometown, to care for her 40-year-old autistic brother Omar. She discovers that Omar is very clear when it comes to his future: he really doesn’t want to live with her when their parents die.
He convinces Irene to hold an intensive adulthood course for him that will enable him to be independent, but more importantly, to fulfill his dreams, such as participating in the talent show that will make him a famous singer.
Inspired by a true story and featuring an acclaimed screen debut from Yuri Tuci, Siblings is a funny, compassionate and deeply human drama about dignity, ambition and family.
Winner | Nastro d’Argento – Best New Director (Greta Scarano) Best actor in a comedy film (Yuri Tuci)
Winner | European Film Awards – European Film Academy Young Audience Award
Winner | Bari International Film Festival – SIAE Debut Film prize
“It’s a film that understands that the biggest dreams often start with the smallest steps toward independence. If you’re looking for something that feels human in an increasingly digital world, this is a trip to Rimini worth taking.”
