A NOTE FROM BREC’S CREATIVE LEARNING COORDINATOR
The Alliance Française French Film Festiva provides a unique window into French-speaking cultures through a diverse selection of films. BREC has partnered with Alliance Française de Perth to provide a school screening with educational kits. The film offered for school time screening will be confirmed in 2026. An excursion to BREC to see a French film offers more than language comprehension. It gives students the chance to build confidence, experience culture in context, and see the real-world value of their learning. Watching native speakers, following along with subtitles, and picking up new vocabulary in an immersive setting helps deepen both understanding and curiosity and remind students of why they chose to study French!

The Alliance Française, the French culture and language institution, launched the Alliance Française French Film Festival in Australia way back in 1989. Since then, it has grown into the largest festival dedicated to contemporary French films outside of France and the biggest film festival in Australia with 198,983 attendees in 2025.
The 37th edition of the Alliance Française French Film Festival will screen across multiple locations in Australia in March & April 2026, including BREC!
